I have been a practitioner for something like 13 or 14 years. I am a certified yoga and prenatal yoga teacher. I use asana to understand my body and its connection to my mind. I address chronic pain, offer healing, rest, challenge, and growth to myself via my personal practice. I would like to share with you some things that have helped me along the way and offer perspective that allows you to see the use for yoga a little differently.

For me #yoga has been the most relevant tool in transitioning from someone with almost no body awareness to having a working map of where my body is in space and more than basic idea of how it moves.
Now I can identify where pain occurs, where tension is, and find helpful ways to adjust myself for comfort. Then I learn where I have frequent problems and identify how I may strengthen those areas.
Yoga is my tool for mapping myself. Honoring my unique build and learning how to work with what I meet.
I used to think that textbook pics were what we should all expect. To have. I thought we varied in very limited ways. Penis size, breast size, shade and tone. I now know that we are an amagulmation of a thousand different spectrums each adjusted to a random but-not-quite value.

Of the self, to the self, thru the self.
